  One of the University¡¯s significant strengths is its strong faculty, which includes scholars who have earned national and international reputations in their fields. At present, more than 1,200 full-time academics and faculties work for Fuzhou University, including more than five hundred professors and associate professors. Among them, there are one academician, two awardees of the National Science Foundation Prize for Outstanding Youth, one professor honored as Minjiang River Scholar, forty-eight doctor¡¯s degree supervisors and eight national experts. Honorary professors of Fuzhou University include Nobel Prize-winning scientists, Dr. Chen Ning Yang and Sir Aaron Klug, and Professor Cheng Siwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People¡¯s Congress.

  The University consists of twenty-one colleges. There is one post-doctoral research station. The University offers thirteen PhD degree programs, sixty-eight master¡¯s degree programs, and forty-seven bachelor¡¯s degree programs. The University supports a national basic science research and teaching personnel training base, a national key specialities and eight provincial ¡°211 project¡± key specialities.

  Fuzhou University is in the forefront of research in several areas. The University runs the nation¡¯s only Engineering and Research Centre for Chemical Fertilizer Catalyst Agents. It supports forty-five research institutes. Many projects conducted at the University have received provincial and national awards.
